Instead of taking the train from Montecarlo to Lucca today as I had planned, I got a ride with driver and guide Simone, so I arrived early. My landlady Daniele had said she would pick me up, and I waited for her in a little park in front of the station. I shared a bench with mother and child. Many travelers find the park a pleasant place to stay while waiting for trains or rides.
