Day24 – Bosco Guerin

My first day in Ticino I’m going up to Bosco Guerin, the only German-speaking village in Italian-speaking Ticino. The Walsers came over the alps to settle here in the 1200s. Until recently Bosco Guerin, the highest village in Ticino at 1500 meters, was extremely isolated, so the original German language and customs remained relatively static while they evolved differently elsewhere.

On the map I notice the switchbacks at the beginning of the road, and know more will follow, So I decide to drive to Cevio and park there to take the bus up the mountain.
