Today we visited the Villa Torrigiani in Camigliano, one of the many beautiful villas in the area around Lucca. Nicola Santini, a wealthy silk merchant and the Republic of Lucca’s ambassador to the court of Louis XIV in France, acquired this villa and remodeled it with an eye to the design of Versailles.
