Day18 Perugia

Once again I was surprised this morning when I went out into the piazza to find another big event going on. This time a health fair.

It was a little shocking to see bodies lying on the ground, even if they were dummies.

I headed for a tour of the excavations beneath the cathedral. Etruscan, Roman, and medieval ruins have been found after a series of earthquakes.  An Etruscan temple dedicated to Juno sits below the cathedral. The construction was made with dry stone, using no mortar. The guide pointed out markings in the stone from Etruscan times, six centuries B.C., that indicate the quarry from which it came.
