I left Marin at midday. I arrived in Rome many long hours later – the next day at 2 in the afternoon. It was drizzling. Across the street from my Airbnb stands a beautiful building dating from the late 1800s in a great state of disrepair. Marco, the Airbnb owner, told me it’s owned by the original family which each year spends a small fortune to do some restoration work.
Although exhausted from the flight, I took time to visit the Palazzo Massimo, part of the National Museum of Rome. I was glad I did. I was greeted by an enormous statue of Minerva, whose head was replaced but is otherwise original. She wears a Medusa on her breast.
