Day 57 – Genova

Today we decided to take a bus to the renowned Staglieno Cemetery. As we walked to the bus stop, just around the corner from our lodging, on a little piazza called Campetto, an elderly gentleman approached us and asked if we were tourists. When we said yes, he encouraged us to look up and see the facades and frescoes on the buildings.

I looked up to see this facade, just one “panel” of several on the building’s large face. We were pleased to come across a resident so proud of his city’s adornments. We discovered that this building is the Palazzo di Vincenzo Imperiale, built in the mid-1500s for a Genovese noble family.
