Day 23 – Mumbai Morning

This morning the tour started at 5:30am to see Mumbai in the early hours. First stop was the newspaper distributors. As many languages are spoken in Mumbai, the newspapers are printed in many languages. Print journalism still thrives.

Day 21 -Mumbai

I landed in Mumbai on time and was picked up by woman driver I had arranged through the hotel. She drove us over the Bandra–Worli Sea Link, officially called Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link, a cable-stayed bridge that links Bandra in the Western Suburbs of Mumbai with Worli in South Mumbai.

Today I visited the Indian Museum, the largest and oldest multipurpose museum in India and SE Asia. Founded in 1814, it is housed in an enormous building which has seen better days. Day 5 from India to Bhutan

We left early this morning from Guwahati to drive to Samdrup Jongkhar, a Bhutanese town on the border with Assam in India. We passed a temple under construction. The architecture is unique to this area and the domed roof is based on the shape of thatched huts from earlier times.

Day 4 – Guwahati

We flew today from Kolkata to Guwahati in the state of Assam, about an hour and a half flight. It took over an hour to reach the Kolkata Airport from our hotel. On the way we passed through many different neighborhoods.

Day 3 – Kolkata

Today we visited a place called the Weavers Studio in the Kasbah  Industrial Sector of Kolkata. All the textiles made here are done by hand.  These women are stitching cloth which will eventually be dyed, the stitches pulled to create a resist.
